Providence Village is a town in Denton County, Texas, situated along the U.S. 380 corridor in the northern reaches of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, near Aubrey, Little Elm, and Frisco. It is one of the region's newest incorporated municipalities, built almost entirely as a master-planned community. The town's origins are unusual. Providence Village was developed beginning in 2000 through the Denton County Fresh Water Supply District Number 9, a special taxing entity created to fund the infrastructure for a large-scale planned community. As the community matured and its population grew, residents sought greater local control, and on May 8, 2010, voters approved incorporation, transforming the development into the Town of Providence Village.
