Mansfield is a city in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex of North Texas, situated mostly in Tarrant County with smaller portions extending into Ellis and Johnson counties. It lies about 20 miles from downtown Fort Worth and 30 miles from downtown Dallas, adjacent to Arlington, which places it in the middle of one of the nation's largest urban regions. Its population was 72,602 at the 2020 census.
The city traces its roots to the 1800s, when institutions such as Mansfield Male and Female College and several historic churches anchored the community.
