Oak Point is a city in Denton County, Texas, on the north end of Lake Lewisville, within the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. With a population of about 4,400, it is a residential community that has grown around lake access and newer subdivisions. The city was incorporated as a general law municipality in 1976 and adopted a council-manager form of government in 2001. From a small beginning of a few hundred residents, Oak Point has developed into a cluster of lake-oriented neighborhoods managed by several homeowners associations, with trails, parks, and walkable access to the Lake Lewisville shoreline. Lake Lewisville shapes much of daily life. Residents use the lake for boating, fishing, and shoreline recreation, and the community's parks and trail systems connect neighborhoods to the water. The newer housing stock is largely single-family, and the homeowners associations that manage the subdivisions give the city a planned, amenity-rich character distinct from older Denton County towns. Oak Point is served primarily by Little Elm ISD, which operates Oak Point Elementary, with portions of the city zoned to Denton ISD. The city sits between Little Elm and Lewisville, placing shopping, dining, and employment within a short drive, and it functions largely as a commuter community for the Dallas–Fort Worth region. Residents enjoy a mix of lake recreation and the convenience of nearby commercial corridors, with major regional highways providing access to employment centers across North Texas. The community appeals to families and professionals seeking newer construction, lake proximity, and a suburban lifestyle within reach of the metroplex, while retaining a somewhat rural feel in its open spaces and waterfront setting.
