Fairview is a town in Collin County, Texas, in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex about 30 miles north of Dallas, between McKinney and Lucas. The 2020 census counted 10,372 residents. The town incorporated in 1958, largely to fend off annexation by neighboring McKinney, and that founding instinct — preserving autonomy and rural character — has defined Fairview ever since. The town's most distinctive feature is its land-use policy. Commuters reach Plano, Richardson, and Frisco via U.S. Highway 75 and State Highways 121 and 380, with Dallas about 30 miles southwest. That combination — large lots, green space, a small school district, and central location — keeps Fairview distinct within one of the fastest-growing counties in Texas. The town's quiet, estate-like neighborhoods contrast with the denser development of adjacent McKinney and Allen.
