Elm Mott is an unincorporated community in McLennan County, Texas, located near the intersection of Interstate 35 and Farm Road 308, about eight miles north of Waco. It lies in the northeast central part of the county and is part of the Waco metropolitan area, in a landscape that transitions from the city's edge into open farm country. The area was settled shortly after the Civil War by the Christian and Long families, establishing the agricultural roots that have defined Elm Mott for more than a century. Unlike many of its neighbors, the community never incorporated, and it has remained a small crossroads rather than growing into a formal town. Its population has stayed modest, reported in the low hundreds for much of its recent history. Elm Mott's position on Interstate 35 gives it a distinct role.
