Crandall is a city in western Kaufman County, Texas, situated within the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex about 24 miles southeast of downtown Dallas. The community began in the early 1880s as a railway town, developing alongside the Texas Trunk Railroad, and took its name from railroad official Cornelius F. Crandall. For most of its history, Crandall remained a small agricultural and rail stop, but its position at the intersection of U.S. Highway 175 and local farm roads has increasingly drawn it into the orbit of Dallas's eastward growth.
